FAN Seminar on February 8th focuses on Autism Spectrum Disorders

The Family Advocacy Network (FAN), a program of Mental Health America of the Triangle (MHAT), will sponsor a free Lisa Townsendseminar entitled, "Preparing for Life: What it Means for People Living With An Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)," facilitated by Lisa Townsend with Autism Parenting Solutions on Saturday, February 8, 2014, 9:30 to 11:30am at Freedom House Recovery Center (directions at left).
Parents raising children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) will learn useful information, including:
  • How to recognize symptoms of ASD
  • What it means to have a co-occurring diagnoses with ASD that might include a mental health issue and how these are treated
  • Understand the impact of the new DSM-V diagnostic criteria
  • When to begin planning for transitions throughout life
  • ...and more!
family of fourA support group for parents of special needs children meets immediately following the seminar, 11:30am to 1:00pm, and is facilitated by Sally Maslansky, MA, MFT.
