FEMMES (Females Excelling More in Math, Engineering and Science) 2/22 Event for 4th through 6th Grade Girls--Applications Due January 31

The capstone event of Duke's FEMMES program is a free one-day outreach program introducing young women from Durham (4th through 6th grade) to math, science and engineering.
The goal of FEMMES (Females Excelling More in Math, Engineering and Science) is to give girls hands-on experience in fields where women are often greatly under-represented. By using female volunteers and faculty members, FEMMES demonstrates that women can and do excel in these fields. Each faculty volunteer directs a hands-on activity that shows something interesting and fun about their area of expertise. Student volunteers lead groups to the activities and act as mentors for the day to the program’s participants.
The full registration packet for the FEMMES capstone event is due by January 31, 2014. The event will be held this year on Saturday, February 22nd from 8:45 am-4:15 pm on Duke University's West Campus.  This event is for 4th-6th grade Durham girls.
