Right now, we are in love with a website. The Family Dinner Project (theFamilyDinnerProject.org) has a website that is focused on helping you get the most out of dinnertime. Recipes, dinner activities and loads of conversation starters are all well organized on the site. The project is a nonprofit based on research that shows family dinners result in postitive outcomes for kids and families--great for our health, spirit, and brains!
You can also sign up for their free online dinner program with email reminders, recipes and more to kickstart 4 weeks to better family dinners. Try it as part of your back-to-school family organizing. This works for families with young children and families with teens too.
We particularly love the conversation starters, which give you lots of interesting questions to answer as a family that are organized by age, from age 2 to 18 years and beyond. We printed the ones for our children's age group, cut them in strips, put them in a bowl, and take turns reading one each night. Everyone has had fun, learned a lot, and looks forward to the next time!
