School Choice Workshops in December and January--Lunch and Learn on December 11

Cooperative Extension’s Parent Advocacy (PFAST) Program is conducting School Choice Workshops for in December and January. The first choice workshop is Friday, December 11 from 12:00-1:30PM.  It is a Lunch and Learn where people can bring their lunch if needed and drinks and snacks will be available.  Workshop location is the Durham County Cooperative Extension Offices at 721 Foster Street in Durham's Central Park.

The School Choice Workshop is for any Durham parent or guardian with a child who wants to explore K-12 public school options, including charter schools. Parents will learn tips and strategies to help choose a school for their child.  Learn about school options (DPS magnet, high school CTE pathways, charter), what to look for, school-child-family fit, and tips on the DPS magnet school lottery (which runs January 11-29).

Choose from any of the following dates:
Friday, December 11, 2015, 12:00-1:30PM (English)
Thursday, January 7, 6:00-7:30PM (English)
Thursday, January 7, 6:00-7:30PM (Spanish)
Friday, January 8, 2016, 12:00-1:30PM (English)

The process of choosing a school is often a stressful one for families and we seek to demystify the process and help families approach this decision in a way that is positive and less stressful.
